This should be another pleasant evening although we shall miss several of our regular attendees who are not coming this time. If anyone has not yet told me that they wish to come please let me know ASAP.
Details by email are being sent out.

This major update for Windows 10 is free to Windows 10 users. It is being rolled out in a measured pace across Windows 10 users outside active hours, but you can request the update early if you need to. It was first released as an update on 5th April 2017. There are several changes which will enable you to realise that your PC has been updated. Firstly the System info screen is not by default the first screen displayed. The version in System/about is now 1703 OS Build 2017 Redstone 2. Control Panel has been renamed "Settings". Now items which are not relevant to you are hidden away as for example if you are not using a tablet the tablet features are hidden away.
Michael used the PC World review to illustrate several new features like Windows Ink which allows one to write on top of a document page or image in Photos as if in another layer, and can be applied to Maps to calculate distances and give a street route between two points.
3D tools within Windows for creating editing, viewing and printing 3D objects have now come together Paint 3D with the Creators update.
Paint 3D for which you need a touch device allows you to create simple 3D objects or add more complex 3D objects from the ReMix 3D community site.
There is also a Game mode using BEAM which allows multi-user and online shared games with streaming.
There is also a set aside feature for tabs or a group of tabs where you effectively bookmark tabs but don't need to keep them open all the time more or less keep what you were doing to return to them later. You can now import favourites from other browsers into Edge and play 4K Netflix movies. This is meant as a stronger competitor to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Also Edge can now function better as an e-reader.
There were a few other minor improvements.
You can now make your own gestures on a touch screen or trackpad.
In November we can expect Redstone 3
Family protection has been improved with Smart screen for MS Edge.
Updates are now being done differently with monthly packages with restarts scheduled in inactive hours. The longest period to define active hours is 12.
Windows Defender has been renamed as Windows Security Centre.
Now 50% of Windows 10 computers were now running the Creators update.
Peter's laptop had not yet been upgraded. As this would take an hour or so we decided not to request it here.
Thanks Michael for explaining this major update.
