Our Next Meeting: Wednesday 16th September 2009
Hardware Evening "Building a PC - An update"

by Michael

The first stage of the evening will be building the computer itself and whilst doing this I will also discuss the components I'm using as well as what is currently available today, what is the best value and what is around the corner.

Once the computer is built and working (hopefully) I will then go through the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) settings before installing Windows 7 RC to test that everything is working as it should and then time permitting install the drivers to get to a usable state.

I think its a fair amount in the short time we have but hopefully we will be able to get through it all!

Michael

[It should be a very interesting evening so do come along. (Peter)]

Our Last Meeting: Wednesday 19th August- Social Evening and Meal at the Brantham Bull

This time round our social evening was kindly organised by Peter, based on a suggestion of venue from Frank with suitable access for Royal who was once again able to join us for the evening with help from his carer Tina and a lift from Peter.

An enjoyable evening for all (I hope!) with good lively conversation from our usual crowd including Dick and Betty from the Essex Club, and Michael from our own club joining us for the first time. By our standards the bill paying went relatively smoothly, although the venue

didn't make it quite as easy as we'd planned! I hope to see you all again at the New Year "do"!

Editorial

I hope you all had a good summer break or are planning one soon.

Unfortunately I will be in New York during the October Meeting, my first big trip since 2002 so my apologies in advance, but I will of course have some new slides (none kitcar!) for our next slideshow evening.
